veterans day reminds me of when i went on tour with my choir (yes i was a choir girl) in highschool, in europe. we went to visit the vimy ridge memorial monument and it really hit home hard. seeing all the names engraved there. we sang on the steps and we could barely get through it without all crying. this beautiful song i still sing today, but it's in four part and i was alto. and then we each had a canadian flag and we put them in the ground all around the walkway. we also went to where flanders fields was written and i found the unmarked graves really hard to take. unknown soldiers. you wonder who they were and what they did and who they left behind and how their families have no idea where they're buried. so sad. and what these people could have been. and i don't see us learning. we might remember, but we don't learn. i wish i could sing those songs on here. i sang it on that day anyways. and wore my poppy of course. i have a poppy from flanders somewhere...
