Thursday: All Work, Very Little Play
1. I've been busting my ass at work lately, and I hope someone's noticing. They are still avoiding that raise I was promised nine months ago, but the wheels are in motion for my work permit, so it's not going to fly for much longer. There are only two people in my office, and I happen to know that my co-worker earns $50 shy of DOUBLE what I do for the same work. Long story short: They're ripping me off and treating me like shit because they can. Like I said, it's not gonna fly once I have status in the country - either they're gonna pay me what I deserve and treat me like the asset I am, or I'm going to tell them how and where to stick it and possibly work for old faithful again - M.A.C.. They're practically on their hands and knees for me to work there, and frankly, that's a nice feeling. My only beef with that company is the overbearing prescence of pretentious assholery.
But I mean really - pay me enough and I can put up with any asshole.
2. Speaking of M.A.C., I've been there twice in the past 24 hours, and each time I've walked through the door, they have a new line out. Yesterday, I bought some of the new Lip Gele collection...
...and then today I stopped in to pick up some moisturizer samples, and lo and behold, they're setting up the new Belle Azure collection...
...it's a good thing I have a ton of hookups and a massive discount, that's all I have to say about that.
3. Some of you may remember a little something about the sex killings of two 15 year old girls in Ontario, Canada back in the early 1990s.

The culprits were Paul Bernardo and Karla Holmoka - the former of which is in prison for life without parole. The lovely Karla, however, is is being released in July after serving her 12 year plea-bargained sentence. This is a woman who gave her 15 year old sister's life to her husband as a GIFT, a woman who helped to rape and kill two more teen girls, a woman who made a deal with the devil to save her own ass, a woman who has been caught numerous times by the jail guards having sex with the male prisoners nexdoor through a chainlink fence, a woman who has been caught raping her fellow inmates...
...and is being released because of a shitty contract. The law is even fucked up in Canada, sad to say.
4. This journal is dismal so far, isn't it? Let's change that:

5. My husband (teehee!) and I caved and bought some green goodness yesterday, and I have to say - it was sorely missed. However, I'm going to have to take all the Canadian goodies my Dad brought us and hide them in our basement storage somewhere.
I wish I was kidding.
