Tuesday: I'm A Cow.
1. All I've been doing for the past five days is eating, and I haven't been to the gym since Wednesday. Fatty fat fat.
Hey, I'm married now. I can get fat, right?
2. Speaking of married, we had a fantastic weekend. I'm trying to catch up at work, so I don't have time to write my usual long and highly detailed journal entry, but I'll do what I can.
We flew in on Thursday and checked into our GORGEOUS hotel room at the MGM Grand.
After christening the room, we got gussied up and went to Emeril's for a shit ton of buttery fish.
My appetizer:
Me, pre red wine:
...and the two of us, post red wine and post 38944134 calories:
I adore that picture of us. Notice the red cheeks and dopey eyes. Hahaha.
We had big after-dinner plans to party like rockstars, but thanks to the food and wine and all-day-travelling, we opted for our king sized bed in the West Wing. *Bliss*
On Friday we woke up at 9am (12 noon, NY time) and hauled ass to the Clark County Marriage Bureau to get our license. After waiting in line for a while and asking the clerk about Britney's wedding, we got back in the limo and stopped by A Las Vegas Garden of Love, our chapel. When we got there, we joked with the staff about a 'gothic' chapel... and it turned out they have one. Needless to say, we were sold.
After returning to our hotel, we pigged out at the 'Grand Buffet' then boarded the monorail to the Hilton so Dan could get his nerd on at the Star Trek Experience. Two nauseating simulations later, we headed back towards our hotel to get ready for the main event, picking up a cheap bottle of domestic red wine on the way. When we got back, we ordered some classy room service munchies to feast on while we primped, and before we knew it the stretch SUV was parked at the lobby waiting for us to board.
We left the hotel at 7:10pm. We returned to the hotel at 7:40pm. Factoring in the 10 minute ride each way, that left 10 minutes to meet the minister, sign the papers, take the pictures and tie the knot. Now THAT's what I'm talking about. We were also thoroughly surprised when we found out that tmronin had called ahead on behalf of himself, his lovely wife, Miss Twwly and her man to purchase my bouquet and Dan's boutonniere to keep as a little reminder of our crazy adventure. How lucky are we to have friends like that?
The first song we heard as a married couple (in the SUV, blasting on the radio) was 'Back in Black' by AC/DC. Having just come from a 'gothic' chapel, decked out in our finest black attire, lounging in a black stretch SUV... it couldn't have been more appropriate. Expect to hear that at our wedding, kids.
Upon arriving back at the hotel, we quickly changed out of our shi-shi garb and into some comfy clothes for dinner at Sushi Roku in Caesar's Palace.
On the way:
Though the food was mediocre, the drinks were deeelishus and our server was fantastic. She took this picture:
We're all "Hey, we're man and wife! WTF!?!"
I like chopsticks:
After dinner we walked through the 'Palace' and were saddened by the tiger they have in captivity there. We also doubled our $17 in chips at a blackjack table, then headed back to our room for some hot and heavy... sleep. Vegas is tiring!
We were up and at 'em the next morning at 6:45am for our flight back to New York, which we slept through, thankfully.
How hot is my husband, even on a plane? I mean, really:
My Dad picked us up at the airport that evening, and we got dinner at Blue Ribbon - one of the best meals I've ever had, bar none. What a kickass place.
After dinner we went back to the apartment and proceeded to pass out.
Then on Sunday we woke up early-ish to drive out to PA for a few shoots with tmronin, Batty and of course my darling Twwly. It was a long day, but it finished with Red Lobster and good conversation with good friends, so all's well that ends well. We got home by 1:30a and, again, passed the fuck out.
...only to wake up on Monday to catch a train out to LI to spend the day with the in-laws. It was a perfect day for it - sunny and breezy, perfect for grilling and red wine on the patio. We stayed there all day, only leaving for a little over an hour to splurge on a bunch of CDs at Best Buy as a little gift to ourselves. The train ride home went quickly due to the conversation and we arrived home in time to watch some Chappelle's Show Season 2 before hitting the sack.
And there you have it, folks - my whirlwind weekend. Suffice to say I couldn't be happier, and I'll post the official 'marriage picture' when we upload it.
Go congratulate my new husband on his impeccable taste in women.
Thanks for all your kind wishes, everyone. As I said, you're all invited to the wedding in a couple of years.
3. Thanks be to Krrn for housesitting and babysitting my feline family. AND for the Veuve in the fridge, you crazy woman.
4. If you haven't already, please go welcome the hottest thing since Heather, my darling Miss Hellah.
More tomorrow, kiddoes.
