Monday: Who Pays $53 For Moisturizer?!
1. Aren't weekends supposed to be mellow? I haven't had a real weekend in months, it seems. The things with which I've been busy, though, are tres awesome... so I guess I can't complain too much.
Friday after work, it was boxing as usual. I stopped at the pet store to pick up some snake food and hamster bedding, and while I was there I fell in love with this little baby hamster and ended up buying him. I didn't feel guilty, though, because I still hadn't occupied Beyonc's old cage since she died. She's actually still in my freezer. *shrug* Anyway, the new hammie is REALLY cute. We haven't named him yet, more info to come.
After showering the gym stink off, we threw on some bummy clothes and walked over to Two Boots for some cajun-style grub. They had a trivia game going on, and we won some Mardi Gras Beads and a bottle-opening keychain. Then we went home and smoked pot and ate all the leftovers.
Saturday I got up early to catch a train to Long Island to meet Dan's mother for the afternoon. The whole purpose of the trip was to try on some dresses she had altered for me for a bunch of weddings we have to attend this summer, but when she picked me up at the station, it became clear to me that she had alternate plans. Our first stop was Aerosoles for three pairs of cute summer shoes, then it was off to Panera for lunch. The conversation was nice - she's very happy to have someone she can be estrogen-y with. AND she insisted on giving me the money for the train case for which I've been saving up. How awesome is THAT?!
After lunch, it was time to tackle Roosevelt Fields for some hadcore bargain-hunting. I ended up with a bunch of insanely frilly and flowery girl clothes and a fuckin' sweet new Nine West handbag. I also got a wallet, but cute wallets never fit all my shit properly, so I had to take that back yesterday. I'm on the lookout.
So by the time we were done shopping, we had literally four minutes to run into the house, throw on the dresses to make sure they fit, get dressed and haul ass to the train station so I could make my train back to Brooklyn. Generous as she may be, my future mother-in-law is a crazy woman.
I got back to the apartment at 7pm and barely had time to put my makeup together for Jessekins' shoot that evening and make my handsome something to eat. Soon after that, tmronin scooped Jessikins and me up from my apartment and off we went to his place, where I hung out with Idjiit and tmronin's other half, Morgan. While the boys set up for the shoot in the ultra-scary basement, we ordered some cheeseless pizza and pigged out before I started workin' my magic on Jessekins' already flawless face. Soon after, we got down to the nitty gritty. The shoot went off without a hitch (as usual for the Unstoppable Team of tmronin and Girlie) and Jessikins was a natural in front of the camera. No doubt Missy will adore her as much as I do.
After all was said and done, I called a car service to take me home in the pouring rain at 12:30a and my knight in purple slippers met me at the door with cab fare. I slept like a baby that night.
Sunday, another morning into which I could not sleep. I was up and at 'em at 10:30a, taking a quick shower and feeding my belly (and the cat's bellies) before heading to the D Train and making my way to the Red Door Spa to use and abuse the gift certificate my Dad gave me for my birthday last year. The massages spas give are never deep enough for me, and I didn't really NEED a facial, but I have to say, it was a relaxing afternoon. The masseuse did a great job of making me feel all tingly and dopey, and the facialist extracted a couple of blackheads around my schnoz. I was supposed to get a makeup application after my facial, but I turned it down - I have a serious aversion to letting anyone else do my makeup. They tried to sell me a $53 bottle of facial mosturizer on my way out, but I politely declined and settled the bill with a 20% tip for my service providers - I pride myself on being a good tipper. After that, I walked down 6th Avenue to Macy's to return the aformentioned wallet, then stopped at The Sunglass Hut around the corner to spend a four year old gift certificate on a snazzy new pair of Nike sunglasses with polarized lenses (yay!).
After my little dose of retail therapy, I hopped on the F Train and headed back to the Slope. I had to stop at the video store to return Blade Trinity, then I met Dan at Citibank so's we could take advantage of the gorgeous weather and indulge in some ice cream. We sat out in front of Tasti-D and shot the shit a little before heading home, where I started the daunting task of organizing the closet in the bedroom and the OTHER closet in the office. Around 6:40p we decided to go for prix fixe at Scottadito, which was positively SCRUMPTIOUS and cheap as all get out. With full bellies we went home, and I finished with my organizing around 10:30p... which gave us AMPLE time to get blazed and watch Animation Domination, with a side of Fresh Direct frozen pizza and homemade guacamole. I finally passed out around 1:30a, but I still owe Dan some sexy time.
All in all, not a bad weekend if I do say so myself.
2. If you're on my friends list and you haven't read my journal in the past 80 or so hours, GO LOOKIE! I wrote about you.
Okie dokie, I'm off to make some cheese. More tomorrow...
