I ended up seeing Intolerable Cruelty last night. It was actually REALLY good. Definitely one of the better Coen Brothers Movies.
Coming home on the subway last night, something happened that really bothered me.
I was on the 1/9 Train, going uptown, and at 96th street a pair of gorgeous blonde girls got on the train. They were standing close and being affectionate, and it soon became apparent that they were a couple.
I frankly didn't even notice, as I was talking to my BF about something. But soon everyone on the train was glaring at the two, whispering under their breath and shaking their heads. The girls were so infatuated with eachother that they didn't notice, and I'm glad, because it was a totally disgusting scene. Pretty soon the older hispanic woman and the ripped Jersey jock sitting across from my BF and me were blatantly crowing about how 'wrong' it was, and asking ignorant and inappropriate questions like 'I wonder who the man is?'.
Not long after that, the girls, smiling, breezed off the train, happy and oblivious. The whole thing really fucked with me...I felt such a sense of peace and pride to see those girls being so true to themselves, and at the same time so completely repulsed by the behavior and mindset of the other passengers.
It amazes me that a world with such beauty can also show such ugliness.
On a brighter note, AMINA!
One Love, yawl!
