I could go on for hours about this weeks blog homework but to save @lyxzen, @missy @bloghomework a huge read I'll try and keep it semi short lol
So I could go on for hours about my business because I LOVE my business, I really honestly love every single part about my business. I'm my own boss, I set my own schedule and I get to pick and choose what my specialty is.
I've been a photographer now for about 4 years. The first 3 years it was just portfolio building and honestly just being a hobby. Just starting last year I ended up turning it into a business. It has been a very slow start because of my health but for me it isn't all about the money, it is all about being behind a camera and capturing those moments for my clients.
How my business semi started: Well I got a camera 4 years ago to take pictures of my little ones and for when we go on family vacations and such. My friends all saw what work I was producing and lots of them asked if I could take pictures of them. Well I would take pictures of one friend and then another one would see and then their friends would see and so forth. Well that is when it started turning into an actual business. It was kind of an accident because doing it as a job was not my intention. My friends and my spouse all said "if you enjoy doing what you're doing, why not turn it into a business and get paid for what you love doing"
Family sessions turned into weddings, weddings turned into newborn sessions and newborn sessions started turning into Labor and Delivery sessions. Like I said it isn't all about the money for me I just really enjoy being behind the camera and capturing those moments for my clients.
In 2014 I started being a photographer for a non profit organization taking pictures of NICU babies and it is so warming to know I give back. I'm a mommy to 2 babies that were ultra preemies and there was nothing like that when my babies were in the NICU. To be able to do this for other parents and see the smiles on their faces is a priceless experience for me.
The most memorable part of my business is giving my clients back their images. the capital letters, lots of !!!!!! and OMG'S! makes me giggle but lets me know I did my job right. I love how my clients squeal and express how much they love every image I captured for them. At the end of the day I know I did my job right.
My summer season is my favourite because that is when all the clients come from out of state. I live in a heavy tourist area where the beaches are sugar white and the ocean is emerald blue. All my clients want beach sessions and I get to see a beautiful sunset for every session. They go back home bragging about my work and then their friends come the next year and come to me hehe I'm semi well known in Dallas and I've never been there lol
ok that is enough about my business, I told you I could go on for hours lol
