Mnus as long time favourites of mine are up next on the qui pro quo, Frosti their guitarist to be precise. Admittedly I have a rather unhealthy obsession with their home town Reykjavik but this means I have managed to see them live rather frequently in addition to their UK gigs. Well, come on now, young cheek boned, tattooed rock boys. Whos arguing with that?
BRIT: You were supporting Metallica in Iceland recently, how did you feel about that? Are they heroes of yours?
FROSTI, MINUS: Yes we supported Metallica the other day and it was truly an amazing experience... Metallica have been childhood heroes of ours since I can remember and to meet them was kind of unreal. When I woke up the day after I was like: "shit, was yesterday real or was I dreaming?"
BRIT: How have you found the reception whilst playing gigs outside of Iceland?
FROSTI, MINUS: Generally real good, of course we have had our ups and downs... because weve been paying our dues like most bands have to do. But receptions always get better and better which tells me we are doing something right.
BRIT: You are playing Iceland Airwaves festival again this October, who would you recommend I go see?
FROSTI, MINUS: Err... first of all I would recommend the Mnus show... they are always pretty cool! Then I would say Einar rn Ghostigital, Vinyl, Pornopopp, Brain Police and Dr. Spock. These are all good Icelandic acts that I wouldnt miss if I were trying to check out the Icelandic music scene.
BRIT: How did you feel about getting single of the week in Kerrang?
FROSTI, MINUS: Uuhh yeah baby... made my day *laughs* No for real, it is an honour for us to be recognized and appreciated by a magazine like Kerrang. Ive been reading this mag since before I got hairs on my balls. In the past we have read about all our heroes and idols in it, so getting our band reviewed in it is an accomplishment it self.
BRIT: Are there any other bands or musicians you would like to collaborate with?
FROSTI, MINUS: We have always wanted to work with Icelandic folk/art hero Megas. He is like Icelands Tom Waits meets Bob Dylan and we truly admire him. But I guess hes getting old and its hard to get him out of bed *chuckles*
BRIT: How are you dealing with the rock and roll lifestyle? Is it all sex and drugs and throwing TVs out of hotel windows?
FROSTI, MINUS: Yeah its pretty much all that *sly laugh* and we like it. But we are also trying to focus on a musical career and thats more important to us. The other stuff is just some extra fun you get for putting a lot of hard work in.
BRIT: What has been the craziest moment since touring?
FROSTI, MINUS: Well... thats a tough one. Being on tour with Krummi and Johnny is crazy all the time; there are no calm moments.
BRIT: What does the next year hold in store for Mnus?
FROSTI, MINUS: Hopefully a new album... a lot of touring and world domination with lots of lobster and champagne
BRIT: In typical SG fashion, name 5 things you cant live without...
FROSTI, MINUS: My friends, my Mac laptop, new fresh music every now and then, time off in remote locations and some love.
BRIT: finally...what do you think of Suicide Girls?
FROSTI, MINUS: I think its pretty cool actually. I can really dig tattooed rock chicks as long as they dont have the roast beef hanging down to their knees.
