I still remember the first concert/performance that actually made me cry from being moved and in the moment.
I was thinking about this moment randomly today and I thought I would share.
It was way back in high school when I was in 10th grade I think? I went to an Ani Difranco concert with some friends. I had no idea who was on tour with her at the time. (This was a sit down kind of venue and that was interesting. There aren't many of those around here.)
The artist before Ani was who blew me away into a land of happy tears.
This lady who resembles something of a tiny girl comes to the stage with a guitar. She has long long hair and looks very fragile. Then a big bulky prince looking guy comes out with a cello or an upright bass (i don't remember) behind her and there it starts.
This was the most mind blowing acoustic style music I had ever heard live back then. Her voice was huge and moving. It was like she was spilling her soul out of this tiny body. Her voice was flawless and hypnotizing. The mood of it all was moody and beautiful.
I remember my friend Amy grabbed my hand during the second song and squeezed it and she was tearing up to. She smiled at me.She didn't have to say anything, I knew she was being blown away inside too.
This musician I am talking about is Noe Venable.
At the time, I am pretty sure she was just starting out.
I cant find older videos of her back then but oh well.
I have had moments like this a few times since with other music or art but I just remember this one being my first moment where creation in music or art made me teary eyed.
But these are 3 songs she played that night,
Keep in mind this was all before Myspace or youtube or anything like that. This was before you could find good music with only a click of the mouse.
Some more Cali photos to feast your eyes upon!
These make me teary eyed but for other reasons...only cus I miss my home and heart out there.
