There's an underground salt mine and museum located 650 feet below my hometown of Hutchinson, KS. It's a dried up sea bed from 275 million years ago. They've been mining it for about a century now, I think, and all the mining equipment that's been brought down, stays down there. It's like a maze, columns of salt surrounded by space stretching for miles. It's also where they store original prints and costumes from Hollywood, and just about anything that people might want to preserve. They also have some 250 million year old bacteria living down there. I took the tour a couple of months ago and found it to be very interesting.
I went for a hike today, Temescal Canyon and Skull Rock. It was a a great day for a hike.
