I start work on a new job tomorrow morning at Paramount. I'm glad it's a Paramount because I can ride my bike to work in the morning and I won't be sitting in traffic for an hour or more on my way home. I went in to meet the crew on Friday. One of the guys, Terry, I worked with last year. Good people. So yeah, I'm happy.
They're filming Fast & the Furious 4 on my block tonight. I thought it was going to cause a major headache with parking, as they are taking up about a quarter of the parking on my street (we fight for spots here as it is), but surprisingly, I was able to park fairly quickly on the next block over.
Today I got a shipment of fragrance samples (imps) from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. Historically, I have not been into wearing fragrances, at least not since I was about 8 year old and I wore Brut, English Leather, and Stetson... but I'm interested in this stuff. There is a forum online where people review and describe the lab's many scents and it's pretty fascinating. I'm learning to identify particular "notes" and I'm finding out which ones work with my skin chemistry. Today I found one that I like quite a bit. It's called The Great Sword of War. The name lacks the directness of Brut, but the scent is a complex blend of Mandarin, tonka, saffron, black tea, cocoa, tobacco leaf, sanguine red musk and five classical herbs of conflict. I could pick out the Mandarin, cocoa, tobacco leaf, and maybe a little bit of saffron, but I'm not sure what the other ingredients smell like, so I'm not even sure if they're present. Anyhow, it smells great.
