A friend hooked me up with some tickets and I went and saw Richie Havens play last nite. I didn't really care about going and had zero expectations...just looked forward to an hour or so break from the insanity that my life has been surrounded by these past couple of weeks. I ended up staying for the entire show and had an incredible time. He blew my mind. What a truly beautiful voice and spirit that man possesses. I was fucking uplifted and moved. I had no idea what an icon he was until I saw him perform. And his stories...everyone needs a grandpa like that. I don't consider myself a big fan of 60's music or own a pair of birkenstocks, but damn if I don't feel like making some far out tie-dies and shit...
old people and small children rule...that is all
Small children do certainly rule (I'm actually halfway through a degree in primary education...it was put on hold while my wife finishes her degree and until our little boy gets to school age)...we still get amazed by their innocent wisdom on a daily basis.
