Two year shakedown and the Trainspotting Toilet.
So I bought my new house about two and a half years ago now and for the most part we are very happy with the home, our neighborhood and our neighbors. Thing was when I bought a brand new house I figured I would have less hassles than a older house. Probably true, but it surely did not mean there were no hassles. There has been a litany of minor issues, especially in the first 6 months. All of that has settled down at this point except the one item I think I finally have conquered.
I called it the Trainspotting Toilet. It is in the spare bathroom upstairs, now since we have a bathroom off of the Master Bedroom the spare bathroom is not frequently used. Well except those times when something may occur that you do not want wafting into the Master Bedroom.... hehe... then it is off to the spare bathroom with you!!!
But I swear it if has not been one thing it has been another with that toilet since we moved in. It has been in a constant state of something needing fixed since I moved in. Well finally I have fixed the last thing. Finally every single part in that toilet has been replaced except the fixture itself. Had I known that two years ago I would have just replaced the entire fixture then and saved myself the hassle.
What did I finally fix? The bolts in the tank that hold the tank to the bottom part of the fixture. They did not use Brass bolts... so they have been in a constant state of rusting since I moved in. Rust in tank, runs down into the bowl with each flush and each flush leaves just a bit more red/brown stain to the bowl. Hence... my Trainspotting Toilet in the spare bathroom.
Homeownership, good times all the time.
