Just finished watching a really great series from Frontline regarding the state of and the delivery of the news in our nation.
Really good. Frontline has become one of my favorite shows now that I have a DVR. In the past I always thought it was intriguing but would never be around to catch it. Now that I just record the series (and it does not hurt that it broadcast in HDTV!!!) I watch it all the time.
Great great program.
Been starting up a new/old hobby. I used to ride a bike quite a bit but got out of it for a long time. I recently used some of my tax return to lay down a good chunk of change to get a new bike and start accumulating all the various peripherals I need. Today was a beautiful day in the Portland area and I went for a really nice ride through my new neighborhood.

Speaking of the neighborhood. When I bought this house back in April of 2006 I thought that perhaps my luck with stocks would transfer to Real Estate and that I was buying at the height of the real estate boom only to lose money from there.... now if I were in Florida, Arizona, California and various other locations that would be true and I could be sitting on 10 to 20% losses by now.
So when I started looking for a place I really looked for a place I loved and wanted to live in regardless of what the market does. And that is what I got. Well it seems this neighborhood has been in a continueing boom, so many houses are turning over and so many old ones are being torn asunder and replaced with new construction it is amazing. One of my neighbors moved in the same week as me, they bought their place for 270K and I bought mine for 256K. Mine was listed at 270K but I haggled and got a bit of a better deal... mine is larger and nicer... I feel I got lucky.
Well I saw the neighbor today and they are moving to Arizona because of a job transfer. So they are selling the house. They just had it appraised to see what to sell it for .... and pray tell what is this new number? 320K.
YiKES!
Got me to thinking about my place. Sheesh that is still a 20% gain in less than a year.
I guess I did not make such a bad move after all.
Does not matter. I still love this house and intend to live here for awhile...
Hope things are treating you all well.

I didn't even know it was happening until I had a doctor's appointment and discovered I'd lost twelve pounds in a month. Just decided to be a little more healthy and conscious about it after that; made sure I got enough to eat, etc.
I could stand to lose maybe another ten pounds now, but my body is built thick anyway, and if I get too light for my build, I look sickly and bony. I'm really pretty happy where I'm at right now, I think I'd miss my bit of tummy if it were gone; anyway, I really ought to get someone with a camera to get some new pictures of me while I'm still riding the high of feeling differently sexy, you know?
Good stuff.
I'm glad someone likes my blogs.
Thanks for all your support. You're such a sweetie.
