What an up and down week....
Wednesday was a f**king disaster. I got to the studio Wednesday morning all psyched for the 2nd installment of the PROJEKT X Morning Show. I had pretty high hopes because the debut was such a success. Well...Otter (my co-host) no-showed and the internet was down for almost 2 hours. All the show prep I do gets saved to a folder in my gmail inbox. So...I was drowning for the beginning of the show. I had nothing to talk about and I spent half the day apologizing to listeners who were expecting PROJEKT X. I got, maybe, 10 percent of the amount of requests we got the week before. It was so frustrating. I did it, though, and went onto class.
Small bit of redemption: We had a guy come in to talk to our class that graduated from our school 10 years ago. He had a pretty successful talk show that was basically a weekly panel discussion about sex, relationships, and romance. His radio bosses are looking to bring it back on a MUCH larger scale and they're looking for interns for the show. He asked who in the class has the most studio/lab hours. Lab hours are acquired by spending time practicing in the studios, working for the internet radio station, or interning at local radio/tv stations. You need 300 hours to graduate. I graduate in August and I'm already at 100 hours. The next closest person is at 46. Well, he along with our current instructor and half the class just looked at me stunned when I raised my hand and said where I was at in Lab hours.
Needless to say, it was enough to catch his attention and, after exchanging emails, he listened to my show Thursday morning and loved it!!! Of course, I rebounded on Thursday and my show f**king ruled. Very good for me. He sent me an interniship application AND asked me to send him a demo of my stuff. So...I spent 5 hours in the studio Thursday putting together my very first radio demo and I sent it off to him. Wish me luck, because this internship would be HUGE!! And...I can work it and NOT have to give up any of my air shifts due to it being an evening/weekend thing!!
Don't forget to listen to my (mis)adventures every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8am to 10am and the return (hopefully) of the PROJEKT X Morning Show on Wednesday from 8am to 1:30pm atTHIS LINK. Also...check out the Myspace page for the Morning show right here. Please tell your friends about it and help me spread the word!!! Thank you!!!
