So, the new AFI CD is coming out. I'm not sure whether to get it or not. For the longest time, I counted AFI as my favorite band. Their combination of songwriting, heavy, raw sound and melodic undertones really made a fan of me. I had been listening to them since 1992 when they were a small underground hardcore punk band trying to make it on their own. Now, I'm not sure if I feel the same way about them. Sure their songwriting is there, but their sound has been toned down and has definitely been rounded out and polished to fit the radio and I'm not sure that it's not largely motivated towards appeasing the execs at the record company and not their fans that have stuck by them since the beginning. Hell, I don't really care about the rampant radio play, the emo tag or even the the band has ventured into the abyss that is pop culture. However, if this record dissappoints me like their other one did, I"m not sure if I'll ever buy one of their albums ever again.
In other news....my roomates are pissing me off already. My roomate Kevin just will NOT stop barging into my room to tell me about his exploits in World of Warcraft. I mean, I understand he's excited and all but c'mon, don't doing it 6 times a day and doing it when I'm trying to study for a midterm is NOT COOL! But seriously, the guy plays about 11 hours a day and he seems to think I do the same. And the guy I share a room with will just not leave me alone. It seems that if I'm not talking with him every waking moment that I'm around him, he assumes that something's wrong with me. Is it so much to ask that I have some alone time? Can a guy study in peace without everyone and their moms trying to make conversation with him? I honestly don't think it's too much to ask for, but I guess it is. I mean, I'm paying up the ass in tuition and rent just so I can make conversation and play World of Warcraft every waking moment of my life. Get fucking real.
