I just read a study about sex and gender that I thought was really interesting. A bunch of male scientists surveyed both males and females and discovered that males had many many partners while girls only slept with people they were in love with. This would go along with the age old way of thinking that men want sex, and woman want love. A female colleague was interested in their findings and decided to do an experiment of her own. She got all of the same men and woman and had them redo the survey hooked up to a lie detector test. The results were astounding. The boys had MUCH less partners then originally admitting to, and girls had much much more sex partners then the previous surveys. Also, when hooked up to the survey the boys admitted that they thought caring and love were important in a sexual relationship, and was something they secretly sought after, and woman admitted the same. Another interesting thing is that the woman admitted to liking sex a lot more then in the previous survey taken without being hooked up to a lie detector.

The conclusion? Men and woman inherently feel the same way about sex...they are cultured and brought up to think differently about it. Woman are not supposed to be promiscuous and like sex, so they won't openly admit it, and men are expected to be male whores and so they feel like they have to have sex with more woman then they really have.
