so i just finished my fourth day of training for wildland firefighting... had to take a test on all the material we learned so far and i'm pretty sure i passed--so i'm stoked that now all i have to do is go to class tomorrow, complete my pack test saturday, and then i'm ready to go fight fire!
i'm not sure if i'm just being too self-assured but i'm fairly certain i'll be able to pass the pack test; it's a 3 mile hike with 45 lbs on your back.... to be done in 45 minutes or less. seems pretty doable right?
i'm just so excited to get out and put all this new knowledge to the test. i'm a little scared about the danger element but it's gonna be great to get out there in nature and get into good shape. maybe by the end of summer i'll be more confident in my ability to become a SG...
til then i can always just think about all the money i'll be making at this job![biggrin](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/biggrin.b730b6165809.gif)

Congratulations on your choice of profession, it's certainly not an easy one. As for the 3 mile hike if you are in good shape it will be no problem. In comparison when I was in marine combat training back in 89 one of our final tests was a 30 mile hike with full gear weighing at least 60 lbs if not more. Good luck on your continued training and I hope you pass.

Good luck on your pack test, I'm sure you'll do great. Wear good shoes, keep a steady pace, keep breathing strong and you'll make it no problem.
