fucking christ I'm gonna throw this thing out the fucking window..
I wrote a long ass post about a book I read called the "Gates of Fire" The best book I ever read. It's the Spartans at Thermopylae. If you don't know the story of Thermopylae, here it is real quick. King Xerxes of Persia launched a campaign to conquer Greece and the Greeks asked the Spartans to buy them some time. The Spartans sent 300 men to fight 200,000 Persians. the battle lasted three days and every Spartan was killed. But they killed some 60,000 Persians. Incredible. But the original post was long as shit and I'm not gonna fucking do it again, I'm tired. So I will leave these two quotes from the book here, and maybe I'll hook it up some other time..
This is my shield, I bear it before me into battle.
But it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother out of its shade,
nor my city out of its shelter.
I will die with my shield before me,
facing the enemy.
Fucking inspiring..and the next quote is from the memorial that was placed there..
Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by,
that here, obedient to their laws, we lie.
love it man..
So that's that..there's a ton more to it, but I'm spent. PTFO!! (Peace the fuck out!)
Fair winds...
