Southern Decadence was AMAZING!
SD is New Orleans kind of gay Mardi Gras, or Pride in September, as it is WAY too hot to have parade and street parties in June in NOLA. It is also, unfortunately, about 99% MALE, with the occasional dyke appearing randomly. But my god, those boys know how to have fun. They are WILD. Why oh why can't a bunch of dykes get hot and sweaty and naked on Bourbon street??
But, it was the safest I felt on Bourbon street late at night, as there was no one interested in ME.
Lovely costumes, or lack thereof. Lots of leather. It was also fun watching the tourists from Iowa or Kansas or Mississippi or wherever who had come to New Orleans not knowing what weekend this was. The shock and horror on their faces was PRICELESS. I just KNOW they are going home thinking New Orleans is ALWAYS like this - Thousands of screaming dancing drinking gyrating almost-naked homosexuals on the street.
Too bad it's not.
I wish, though, that I WAS a tourist here this weekend, and not a local. You know the Las Vegas motto - what happens in LV STAYS in LV? As I was pinned up against the side of a building in the Quarter, smooching with a girl, I was thinking, my god, what if someone from WORK sees me??
Had fun though.
