Somebody is poisoning our dogs.
Or some weird post-Katrina New Orleans infection is going back & forth among them that the vet can't find. I mean, really, the next town over (Algiers) just put out an advisory to not drink, bathe in, wash food in or wash hands in the tap water without boiling it first.
Tomorrow will be the 3rd dog going to the vet in a month. (And I feel like a creep for saying this but $1200 so far!)
The first got an eye infection that the vet does not understand. Still has it a month later despite daily medicine, and lost sight in one eye because the infection caused almost instant (happened in one day) glaucoma.
(She also started to eat everythng in sight, towels, socks, shoes, ear phones, which necessitated some of the vet visits.)
Then our 14 year old dog suddenly went lame in his back legs. We thought it was seizures from his Arthritis medicine (which we found has scary side effects) but it continued long after we stopped. He literally could not stand for a couple of days without collapsing. The vet took all these tests and said maybe it was the cold making his arthiritis acting up, and he's walking a bit better.
Now our youngest dog, who can JUMP straight up, tonight is falling over and cannot stand on her hind legs. They give out. She falls sideways when they give out under her, just like the other dog. (It's not a foot injury. You can tell it's the legs.)
Something is going on and it scares the hell out of me.
