Florida vacation is underway. And how successful was my weight loss attempt?
I was able to lose about 17lbs in 26 days. Dunno about inches lost, but a bunch of my clothing is fitting a lot better. Now, that's all well and good, but what now? I've lost all this weight just to pile it back on while away? I don't think so. I can't make any promises. I know I'm gonna indulge and enjoy treats every now and then, but that doesn't mean I'm just gonna let all my progress be undone in the next 2-ish weeks. So, here are my goals for this trip...
- Daily physical activity. On the days we aren't walking around amusement parks, I'm gonna find some time to get to the gym at the hotel. It has like the bare minimum in terms of equpiment, but I'll just have to find ways to make it work. And, if my feet are up to it, I'll probably try to get to the gym on days that we do go to the parks.
- Watching my portions and waiting til I'm actually hungry to eat. I'm gonna have ice cream, I'm gonna have pizza, I'm gonna have lots of stuff, but I'm not gonna over do it. Just have a little bit, for the flavour and then move on.
- Daily squats and stretches. To go along with the daily exercising, I brought my 25lbs hand weights and I'll be using them for squats and various arm exercises to keep my stretch up. I've also been doing daily stretching (touching my toes, working on the splits and stuff, going backwards into a bridge position from standing). I'm not as limber as I was, so I really wanna get better at that.
So, that's pretty much it. On paper, it sounds pretty easy, but it'll probably be a struggle on some days. I actually brought my scale from home to make sure I'm not packing on the pounds on this trip. The 2nd last time I went to Florida, I came back 5lbs heavier. The last time, I came home weighing the same. I'd be cool with breaking even again, but if I could've actually lost weight, that'd be fantastic. Only time will tell though.
