K... Suicide Girls is still... here? Haha. I have no idea what compelled me to log on this morning, its been like fourteen hundred years.
Is this site... this community... still relevant? I mean what goes on around here nowadays? Who's who in the zoo?
I'm not even sure where I was at when I last posted in like 1989, so I'm not even sure how to write an update. Right now I'm sitting at my kitchen table eating oatmeal and blueberries, getting ready to drive my butt down to the Talisman Center to get a gym pass... I have gained many a lb, too many for my comfort level... yesterday, I actually brought a bag full of bras & underwear to take "before" pics in, so that I could post them, and commit to getting my act together. I feel like a bag of dicks.
I have my third of three consecutive rabies vaccinations this morning. I've been volunteering with AIWC, the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, for a few months now. I'm an on-call rescue driver, so on the days that I am volunteering, I am being dispatched out to random locations in & around Calgary to deal with injured, orphaned, abandoned, or displaced wildlife. Once I'm protected against rabies, I'll be able to go on calls regarding certain species that... well, might have rabies.
Let's see, after that... I'm driving to work. I work 45 minutes outside of the city at the moment, still body piercing. As usual, it's good money, but it ain't where my heart at.
I finished 1.5 years at the U of C majoring in Communications and ran like the dickens. Some of my courses in my second year got really fucking hard - and it's not even that they were hard they were just..... so OBVIOUSLY not what I was interested in. Critical Media Studies had me like whuuuuuuuut? And I wrote this whole paper about how Miley Cyrus is a racist. And then there was Women's Studies, which, although I thought I would love, I had a really hard time understanding. And then there was Primatology - which I look back upon fondly, as usual. I had a lot going on in the fall semester of 2014 outside of my studies, and I needed some time to sort some shit out. I switched my major to Anthropology, concentrating in Primatology, and then just didn't go back for the winter semester... I started upgrading some high school courses through a community college instead, in case I do go back and need to be armed with prerequisites. I am enrolled to go back this September full-time... geography, astronomy, and human evolution... if I do continue on in Primatology, there are some wicked field schools I can participate in, in like Ghana and shit, camping out and observing monkeys. I just don't frigging know... I want to work with and for animals, preferably wild animals, and that is all I do know for sure.
Anyhoo... off I go. :)
