Public Service Announcement

Seen the previews for the UNDERWORLD movie?

Wow, the creativity of today's filmmakers. Vampires vs werewolves... where DO they get these great ideas?

White Wolf Publishing seems to think they know, which is why they sued Sony over the similarities between their VAMPIRE games and this upcoming film.

It must be hard being a "Goth." Not only must you endure being part...

This is a Public Service Announcement.

Astrology is horseshit.

I mean complete, 100%, USDA Grade A horseshit. It's as real as phrenology or dowsing. It was invented by ignorant, primitive, superstitious people who assigned meanings to points of light in the sky so as to feel connected to the heavens.

It's not even in the same class as, say, acupuncture, which does work - just...

belief is the only thing that fuels our perception of the universe. it is far to vast and entropic, and we are so desperate for absolutes, that we will never really understand it.

"... which honestly makes it as valid as Catholicism, mathematics, or any other human attempt to explain the universe."

Well, yes for Catholicism and other religions, no for mathematics. Were mathematics as "real" as astrology, you wouldn't be able to read this, since there would be no computers and no Internet.

"i mean, come on. belief is pretty much the only thing that fuels our species, if you want to believe salvation lies from the coming of a talking dafodil who will lead us all to candy land then you're just as valid as any other scientific or religious system ever created."

"Belief" is fine until it runs bang-on into reality. At that point, belief must give way to acceptance if one wishes to remain sane. One of the benchmarks of sanity is the ability to accurately perceive and process reality. We've had about 2500 years of astrology (going back to ancient Babylon) during which we've not seen one scrap of confirming evidence for either the theory or practice of it. Can the same be said for, say, chemistry or thermodynamics?

I'm no longer posting in the SG forums; just too much noise and "alterna-"nonsense for my liking.

Thanks to Repro, ELPH, Hula, Sean, RJ and others for the good debates.

I have to say, the SG photosets are increasingly boring. Yes, the girls are sexy and the photography is competent. It's just that for all the nekkidness and sex-talk, there's very little "heat" there.

Dude. I don't like you.

Please don't talk to me anymore. Thank you.
brainfromarous:
"Dude...?"

HOW old are you again, Morgan?

First you come into my announcement area to make obscene comments and insults. Then you tell me not to talk to you anymore.

Hey, fine by me. I've seen enough. In fact, I'd have to be an OB/GYN to see any more of you. smile

Ciao.

Thanks to Repro, ELPH, Hula, Sean, RJ and others for the good debates.

Also, the photosets increasingly suck. Even when the SGs are sexy - as they usually are - the poses and themes are tiresome. For all the nekkidness and sex-talk, there's very little "heat" here.

As I am both keeping a LiveJournal and working on my own 'blog, I don't have time for more of these entries. Also, writing everything in duplicate strikes me as contrary to the convenience that the 'Net was supposed to bring us all.

Therefore, please check my LiveJournal from now on, There will be no more comments here.

I saw The Inflatable Bulk last night. My gripe list:

* Hated the actor who played Bruce Banner.

* The Bulk looked like he'd wandered in from a video game.

* The Gamma Dogs looked even faker than that, and were a stupid idea.

* Too long. Way too long.

* The final fight, between the Bulk and his transforming father-monster, was shot so darkly...

You hated how Bana played Banner?

Eric Bana played BB you know. He's Australian, you know. *turns away, nose in air* Hmph.

But I have to say, when Bana went from doing TV sketch comedy to playing Mark "Chopper" Read, I was won over.

A therapist (or a prison guard, I forget) once told me to work out my feelings through comedy.

Accordingly, in response to the worst episode of X-Play in the history of the world, I give you this:

(Inside the TechTV offices...)

TechTV Exec 1:
(Looks angrily up from his desk)
"Damn! We remake Extended Play into X-Play to capture that crucial 12-16 yr old demographic,...

X-Play is Tech TV's "video game show." It replaced the (far superior) "Extended Play" show on that channel.
