Mood: ‘Whisper Not’ by Quincy Jones
2. What is a piece of art that you have, or would love to have, hanging on your wall or sitting in your house?
With thanks to @fredhincanada for including me in this fun brain trek, here is my answer:
With SO many choices, such as an original Shakespeare folio, and original Sherlock Holmes story written in ACDs hand, any Picasso, Rembrandt or DaVinci, the one thing that immediately came to mind is the Piri Reis map.
Piri Reis was a 15th Century cartographer, and the remaining map is considered to be one third of the original remaining in existence. Made on gazelle skin parchment, it is also considered to be the earliest map of the west coast of what would become America and also shows more of Antarctica than had been known to be actual land until it was discovered in the 20th C.!
The mystery that surrounds this artistic artifact has intrigued many, including me, for a hundred years, and I do like nothing more than and ancient mystery….
