Mood: ‘It’s A Long Way There’ by Little River Band
Week 1. Tell us about one of your favorite songs of all time.
As I always showcase my mood by choosing a song, you see my choice up above. I am not quite ‘ancient’ yet, but this is a song I first heard in late 1976 as an 11-year old lad. Something that I realized about it later was that it was released in August of that year, the year and month that my family relocated to Anchorage, Alaska. So, there is an underlying meaning I hadn’t realized until years later. In fact, there was a time, as happens often in Life, that the song left my consciousness. Until the advent of online availability through Amazon Music, Spotify and other such digital libraries.
So, why is it one of my favorites of all time? Other than the obvious reason stated above, this seems to be one of those rare songs that seems to typify ‘perfection’. The lyrics, the melody, the harmonizing, the solo instrumentals, the bridge, everything just allows for putting this sucker on repeat and going about your business, or just laying back, eyes closed and listening again and again.
yeah, as close to Perfection as a song can get!
