O, For The Love of Pasta!
I love to cook. I do this whenever I can, and by that, I mean meals, not throwing something in the microwave or steaming vegetables; I mean cooking!
Months ago I cooked up some good Sunday Gravy, more commonly known as ‘pasta sauce’, though that doesn’t really cover it. However, this was in concert with also baking a lasagna. Since then, a good portion of the Sunday gravy was frozen and today I used more.
To make more lasagna. And I determined to take pictures of the process. I did goos until I pulled it out of the oven. No, I didn’t drop it or any such thing. It just looked so good I brought it directly to the table and we all dug in…but I forgot to take a picture of it, finished. And I take pride in having just enough browning of that top layer of cheese! Oh, it was (and will be) perfection, if I do say so myself!
For those I have made it for in the past, more cheese and less sauce has been preferred, and I must agree! That is one whole layer and the beginning of layer two of three; noodles layered with ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, both shredded and fresh, then fresh-grated Parmigiana-Reggiano and Pecorino Romano cheeses and dotted with small Italian meatballs and then more Sunday gravy.
(This time round I had some ground Italian sausage I just baked as a whole, then cut it into cubes. Hey, there is a bit of Lazy in Sunday!)
Finally, (but for baking).
This was a new lasagna pan and it was a bit bigger than the one I had before. This meant I was just sort of the amount of shredded mozzarella cheese than I would have wanted, but did not realize this until the end. Just means I get to do it again, better!
Yes, it was perfect tasting and will feed three of us for likely 4 meals!
