Let me start by saying I an a big fan of the show Spartacus on cable, and I love lucy lawless as she has been a favorite of mine since I first saw her as Xena on the show Hercules the legendary journeys. While browsing around the web I found out that starz was releasing trading cards for the show that included autograph cards and I happen to like collecting autograph cards. I found a webstore that was selling preorders of the cards (this was in feb and the cards just shipped on april 4th) and the price seemed right. Just 34.00 for 15 packs and the product description also promised a 50% chance of getting a lucy lawless autograph card.
Imagine my surprise when my package arrived from ups and it seemed rather small. I opened the envelope to find a single 9 card pack of spartacus trading cards. My immediate thought was WTF!!! Where is my box of 15??? I did a litttle research and it turns out that the site I made my purchase from is incorrectly listing their product. The 15 pack box according to the manufacturers own webite is supposed to retail for $750.00!!! and the single 9 card packs are $50.00 a pack!!! Yes each pack does contain 2 autograph cards which is pretty damn awesome but damn if you don't pay for that luxury.
I called the company and complained and I have yet to hear back from them and they still have the incorrect listing on their website however they did raise the price to $70.00 a pack. Oh well, you live and you learn. Unless I get a higher paying job i can safely say my foray into "premium" trading cards is over.
