I've been having very vivid, and amazing dreams lately. This is the beginning of one of them. Tell me what you think!
After the sudden death of my mother, I moved in with my grandparents. Seeing how my deadbeat father ran off when I was little, and my mother was an only child . . . I had no other choice. That summer a lot happened to me. Being 16, and losing the only parent I had left, was a lot to handle. Naturally, I inverted. The new school year was creeping around the corner, still not having any friends, being the new girl, and I was not looking forward to it.
Just like every night, I kissed my grandparents goodnight, and they trailed their frail bodies off to bed. As Im watching them slowly make their way to bed, I am overcome with guilt. I have been so selfish. I havent visited them in so long. I was so wrapped up in my own teenage world to even care. Now they are getting so old, and I hardly know them. Every holiday, every year, I would always get a card from them, ever since I can remember. Never reading them, I selfishly would toss them aside, and take the money that was in them. What a brat I was. They are all I have left now, and I am going to make things right.
Few hours later, after my grandparents slipped into bed I was beginning to fall asleep. Watching a horror movie as always. My usual nights consisted of watching T.V. until my eyelids were heavy. Tonight wasnt any different then the rest. I switched off the light next to me, and lifted my heavy body from the couch. Boy, was I lazy. I headed towards the TV to turn it off, and hit my shin right on the corner of the coffee table. As I was leaning over cursing under my breath at the coffee table, I saw a large shadow pass quickly in the window. Startled, I fell back onto the couch. Im just tired, and watch too many horror movies. I said to myself. I composed my racing thoughts and headed to my room. Still startled, I quickened my pace giving a few looks over my shoulder before I entered my room, and shut the door quickly.
By the time I slip into my night clothes, I have already terrified myself with all kinds of horror stories. I definitely watch too many movies. I cautiously step over to my window to check outside. I notice a strange van parked a few houses down. Everyone on this block is either elderly or they live alone. So, we dont get too many visitors around here. Too tired to think anything of it, I shut my blinds, and lay down. I pull the covers over my head like a frightened little kid, and fall asleep.
