Got that weary tiredness falling on me again. My life is coming back alive. A boy like me is only really living when every hour is accounted for and my brain is tackling three projects at once. Exhaustion is purity...

Not that I'm exhausted right now, what I'm feeling is more akin to jet lag or maybe, more like a deep sea diver getting "the...

Well, you only give 85% because of fear. Fear of being stuck in the same situation again. Never mind that you'll, in the best circumstance, look back fondly if things don't go well with ol' Miss P.

Not wisdom, but a random observation.

Now for randomness.

Popeye!

And a goat!

So, remember that Big Boy comic? [hopeful face] smile

Dancing and Palo = absolutely the right choice

Me: wanna do it?
Her: no.
Me: y'know, this relationship has lost the passionate spark... that it had yesterday.

An old email from ThePants, one of many reasons that I love him:

The bad things about an all request radio station:

1. No Use For A Name - Soul Mate
2. Anti-Nowhere League - So What
3. Bigwig - Smile
4. Chaos UK...

meh. that's an easy way out. what if you actually care for someone and religion is an active part of their life? what if it's not so simple to write this person off as an idiot?

and "Fuck politics" worked when I was 16 and too punk for you and didn't realize that the next nomination to the Supreme Court could affect my life in countless ways.
aoife:
from the gut, I agree with you--that to have to follow the dictates of some book to run your life is weakness. but I am nothing if I can't attempt to be open-minded, so I will see. he's only been converted a few months, and I think as time goes on he will adapt it to his life. or hell, give up on it entirely. who knows. I still identify as Jewish, and have contemplated the past few years fasting on Yom Kippur for personal reasons, and I'm not one to knock whatever makes someone feel better.

he's a straight-edge guy who's had a fairly strict moral code for himself since I've known him (admittedly less than a year) so he seems fairly suited to the setup of a religion. not to mention it almost seems to be part of the ridiculous training schedule he's on right now--run 30 minutes before breakfast, teach two classes, spar, bike, 100 situps, class for two hours, pray 5 times a day...

I know you're not stupid and are conscious of what goes on politically, but reductionist statements tend to get under my skin. punk bands are rather short on subtlety and nuance.

So, it's been nearly eleven days since I saw Palo last and I must confess, I miss her something fierce. Going to sleep alone on my cold-to-the-touch futon pad on the floor in the corner of my bedroom just sucks. I lie there, bored and cold, wishing she was there to make the bed warm like she always does (how someone so small can generate...

It's cool that other people have experienced the same issues that I have...I always sort of assume that everyone else in the world automatically has a million friends, but I think everyone feels a little lonely from time to time. Thank you for sharing that with me.

That sucks about running out of gas...but at least you have a story to tell, right? Although it would have been cooler if like meteor struck and flying zombie fish appeared and started attacking people tongue
aoife:
I bought this and this.

My heart explodes in a kaleidescope of emotions, my soul is rainbow sherbert and I have no one to share it with. This place is getting stale. I like many of you personally, but it seems that nobody's got much of anything to say that is worth reading and those who do just don't have the time to explore like they used to. I don't...

if you're around and on AIM, I could tell you all about it. my journal has an unnecessary audience...
capital:
Your journals always resonate with me. I feel like you and I both have this similar overriding ideal... i can't pinpoint it exactly, but it's something about living your life by ideals, determination, and conviction, not making excuses for yourself, taking responsibility for what you do, rejecting complacency, exercising restraint, refusing to settle, and living like it matters. And while I feel like a lot of people would agree with those ideals hypothetically, disappointingly few are actually principled enough to live it in the way that I feel like you do. Because I'm relatively introverted I think the appreciation of that may not have been conveyed, so I thought it was high time I come right out and say it.
