I am so polluted. Beer, wine, gin, Disarrono, cigars. I used to be so healthy and clean. Now I feel soggy. Yuk.
It was all fun though. New Years is now my favorite holiday, it has trumped Halloween. One reason being is that it is our anniversery (this one is year 3). The second reason is that EVERYONE is happy on New Years. Or at least they should be. Everyone wants to see friends, dance, imbibe, celebrate. Everyone wants to leave the old behind and go on to the new. People make resolutions to get rid of things they don't like about themselves in favor of things they will like. It's all about new beginnings, and although many things don't change, there's still that hope they will.
We went to the martini party, which was cool, then back to our town. We're walking distance from shops, bars and clubs. It's all very hip and artsy.
Our first stop was an Italian lounge with a piano bar. It's the kind of place I never would have been caught dead in when I was a kid. Tons of old people and some git playing a karoeke sounding type of keyboard....Macarena, Electric Slide...that sort of crap. The stuff that would send me to the parking lot during my sister's weddings. But now, it's different. The atmosphere is blindingly incandescent. Light. Merry. Gay...in the original sense of the word. Old ladies in furs, tiaras and sequins. Men in suits. They all dance, drink, cavort and laugh in defiance of age.
Each year since Matt and I met again has progressively been better than the last. We both went through some shitty times. But we move on and get rid of people or things that hurt us.
My resolutions this year are:
1. Get back into shape! We used to ride our bikes 20 miles to work each day and lift weights 4 times a week. Now since we've moved our new jobs took all our time. We just joined the gym down the street and I'm taking kick boxing and self defense.
2. Get painting! Our new jobs give us lots of free time and good pay. And I'm inspired by south Fl. Want to find a gallery somewhere to sell my new work.
3. Save $$. Want to buy a house.
4. Devote some volunteer time to the Secular Humanist groups in FL.
We were watching Head Bangers Ball last night.....saw the new Agnostic Front video. Or at least I think it's new. DAMN!!!!! It was so good the hairs on my arm stood up. I love that giddy, excited feeling I get when I hear new music that floors me.
