Well, here she is...my Wendy. On my left calf. Got her a couple of days ago.
She's the twin sister of Goldie, from the Hard Goodbye yarn, part of the Sin City series from Frank Miller. I've alway loved comics, and I loved the cinematic treatment of this one in particular. Great fucking movie!
This is the start of what I hope will be a whole comics inspired calf.
This guy: Scott White: aka Visual Vortex, is the artist. He works at the awesome shop Altered State in Lake Worth, FL. This is a great shop to go to for quality custom work. Scott will be my guy for doing the rest of the comic leg, since he loves comics.
The owner of the shop, Pooch, is a killer artist who is just the guy to go to if you have a tiki or carnival fetish.
mrmatt, who also had his La Katrina done, and I went over to Jetsetter Lounge, a cool retro restaurant, lounge and outside tiki bar for dinnner on Scott's recomendation. If you live near Lake Worth at all, go here. South Florida is hurting for cool things and this place is certainly a cool thing, especially if you love tiki and retro. I'm a 20's gal, so this place is a little futuristic for me (50's-60's) but I'll take retro when I can get it. Esquivel, Shirley Bassey and Louise Prima are on the stereo, Shag art is on the walls, you can sit in their swanky furniture and chat with other hipsters in the Jetson's style living room style lounge, you can drink huge Polynesian drinks, and eat amazing food. It ain't cheap....but it's worth it.
So go get a tat at Altered State, then go dine at Jetsetter Lounge.
