Short story.
My DVD player I got in 2003 is slowly dying. Watched a movie yesterday, image froze and the plaayer made strange ass noises like zdroom zdooove zging zging crick crick crick, (I'm so bad at writing noises), and the movie went back playing. Weird. It did the same thing this afternoon as I was watching Definitely Maybe, a cheesy romantic comedy, I thought it was divine punishment, but no, and it convinced me to buy another player. A friend told me a few days ago there was this super Toshiba DVD player who played divx for 40euros. I had a DVD/Divx player but it was some shitty brand nobody has ever heard of and I don't even remember what it was, the player was not that good, divx subtitles had a problem, it couldn't read and shit like that. It died after a year.
But this time, a Toshiba, it will be good. Better be.
I looked up the website where they sell it. It's at Boulanger, my 3 French readers know that store, and for foreigners, it's a store like Electric City, and for those who don't know they sell TV's, DVDPlayers, Home Cinema, Music players, Video Games, DVDs, etc...
And on their website, they tell you if what you want is in a physical store near you, and for once, what I wanted was available in the nearest Boulanger near me.
So I decided to go there myself and save some money on shipping.
So I went to Thiais Village, it's basically a mall but who tries too hard to be very fashion and hype. It has a Ikea so everytime you take the bus, you know who isn't from "da hood" as they ask "This bus goes to Ikea?". I bought the DVDplayer, it was still in stock etc etc... Everything was cool. But when I paid they didn't give me a bag. In the old days, every store was more than happy to give you a bag, but now with global bullshit they don't do that anymore. I'm sure they are more than happy not to give bags anymore because it cost them like 2cents by customers and there's no small savings...
So I thought "Fine, you just have to walk three minutes to the bus, don't be a victim"
So I took my box and left the place. As I was walking to the bus stop, the typical thing happened, I saw the bus passing just in front of me. People in the bus must have seen me looking at the bus as if all my family was drowning and I couldn't do anything. I was that desperate. I decided to walk to the next stop holding my box. So if you've seen a loser holding a dvdplayer box in the Thiais Village perimeter this afternoon, it was me.
I finally got to the bus stop and waited for said bus. It was crowded! Impossible to get on it. So I had to walk all the way home, I do that everrytime when I go to Thiais Village, I walk home, it's cool, but with this package it wasn't. My arms have suffered, they were shaking in the end as I had to hold it with one hand cause with two hands was silly...
You see what are the consequences when a store doesn't give bags anymore?
The good thing is the player works super well and divx subtitles are great. I can enjoy my etc
PS: I've written this entry in 4 hours. Not that english is that hard, but having the ps3 and GTA on + being connected on msn + having microsoft word open with my screenplay opened is a bitch when you try to do something and it's a bitch for global warming.
Saving bags won't be enough.
