Privacy is often a part of security and a lot of people -- myself included -- hold parts of themselves back as a kind of protection against assault (be it physical, emotional or mental). This seems to work pretty well with strangers, but what do you do when you are attacked by somebody who knows you intimately enough to really hurt you? What if it is somebody in your family?
There is nothing that hurts worse than having a family member -- in my case a sibling -- attack you when you are most vulnerable. Kick you when you are down. A family member can take advantage of you like nobody else and most of the time we accept it because they are your family. But what do you do to protect yourself then? Do you strike back? Do you tell them to fuck off? Do you walk away?
Is it possible to come out the other side of it all without cutting off all relations with your relation? I wish I knew. I've been stabbed in the back before by friends and acquaintances, but this is the first time I've been hacked at by my family. The first time that somebody "inside" has used their unfair advantage to do me dirty.
It makes me want to....
I hope you're having a better day than I am.
