Hey all,
I suppose it's time for an update. I think I'm going to skip things on the personal front, as they're not going particularly well, and I'm not looking to bum anyone out.
On to news then. I am now officially the newest (and youngest) member of the Board of Directors for the Japan/America Society of Vermont. My responsibilities for the group have now skyrocketed, but it's a really good organization, and I honestly think everyone should volunteer at some point. My time has come, I suppose.
Before I joined, I attended a meeting to present the work I'd done on the poster and the giant scroll I made for a door prize. After seeing how things were run, and the way they present themselves (like their website for example), I realized they needed a lot of help. Their website really needs to be redesigned, which after the upcoming festival, I think will be my next project. It may take some work convincing some of the other board members, but I have the president and his wife on my side, so it shouldn't be too bad. As an aside, the president is a professor of Pathology at UVM. He's a really nice guy, too.
So here is the latest piece I've finished for the Matsuri. I'm also doing aged versions of all the work to put up as decoration, so as to match the poster.
We're also going to be making t-shirts of some of the artwork. This will be the first year we're selling them (which I couldn't believe), so maybe this year we'll be able to cover all of the volunteer t-shirts we usually pay for out of the budget. Another of my goals is to have it so that we're eventually running a surplus. Then maybe in a few years we could have the Matsuri outdoors on the waterfront. I think it would be really great.
I have lots of ideas to help improve the organization.
So, finishing up with the art I was doing a couple of weeks ago, here is the lovely Larianna.
So between the incredible amount of work I've been doing both at my job and at home, combined with the unfortunate personal issues that just seem to keep mounting, I'm starting to get a little burned out. Maybe things will settle out a little by the end of next month or so. I really hope so, at least.
I hope you're all well. Take care, everyone.
