Hey y'all,
Alright, so after my proclamation of attempting to adopt a more positive attitude overall, it seems the fates have decided to callously test my resolve. Here's a breakdown of last week.
Monday: I was supposed to get my new TV that I've been saving up for forever. It didn't show. No big deal.
Tuesday: My TV shows and I get it home during the day so that it can sit and warm up, and I can fire it up once I get home from work. I excitedly hurry home to check it out and...it doesn't work. I get my gas bill, and it's fifty percent (and $50) higher than last month.
Wednesday: We are stricken with a monster blizzard that leaves literally three feet of snow on the ground. I couldn't even see across the street most of the day. It's actually t he worst snowstorm we've had in almost forty years. Needless to say, I didn't go to work. Also, it was Valentine's Day, and blizzard or no, I wasn't going to see my lady because she was going to be attending a play.
Thursday: I didn't go to work because I spent six hours shoveling the driveway, and sidewalk so I could even get to my car. I had to shovel out two spaces worth so that my lady would have a place to park that night when she came over. She decided not to come because she didn't feel like digging her car out.
Friday: I'm supposed to see my lady at 10:00am. We had planned to take the day off because we were going to an early show that night and wanted to just relax, and not have to worry about rushing to get there after work. She calls at ten to say that she hasn't even started to dig out her car. I decided to try and go to work and make up for a little bit of the time I missed over the two previous days. I get out to my car...the windshield is smashed. I have no idea how it happened, but I was pissed. So I spent a good hour calling around to try and find a place to fix it. Best price I could do...$190.
So that's not quite everything, but the key points of the week. So even though I've returned the broken TV, thanks to the broken windshield, the gas bill, and some other expenses, and the fact that I missed three days of work, I can't afford to replace it. So once again I'm saving up for a TV.
That said, I need to make some money. That's where you wonderful people come in. I'm offering myself up for commissions, which, although I've done them in the past, I'm really sort of hesitant to do. Many of you have seen my work, so if you know of something along those lines that you would like, shoot me a message and we can discuss it. Also, I'm offering prints of pretty much any of my current artwork. New stuff is in my art folder here, and you can look at other stuff at Ink & Sugar or Colossal Failure.
I'm not fond of, nor particularly good at whoring myself out, but I could really use some money to get me back on track and finally get my new TV. I know that sounds lame, but living by myself, I don't really ever have the money to buy anything fun, and this is just something I've been wanting for quite a while. So if you want some art, I want to sell it to you!
So since I didn't have time to work on any art last week, I'll have to leave you with something old. It's a painting of SG Hydra. I actually have a print available of this on canvas. It's 24"x24" and mounted on gator board. It's also got a wall mount already in it if you don't want to pay crazy money for a custom frame job.
I hope things are going well for everyone out there. Thanks to any of you who actually read all of this. Now that I think about it, maybe I should have put my plea for cash first. Oh well. Take care, all.
