So alright. Hey everyone. It's been about another month since my last post, and things have been quite busy. I'm now the only graphic designer left in my office, so now all rivers run through me. I've been spending a lot of extra time there, which even though I'm getting paid, sucks. I can never buy back my free time.
My birthday was last week, and in all honesty, it was one of the worst birthdays I've ever had. The major problem was that my girlfriend's sister (who's also a good friend of mine) has the same birthday. Us and Fiona Apple, apparently. At first, a novel idea, but it quickly became a problem. Their family is sort of tight, and they had all this stuff they wanted to do. My mom and my best friend wanted to spend time with me, so I couldn't just go hang out with my girlfriend's family. So I spent it with mine, which was nice and everything, but I didn't get to spend it with my lady, which is really all I wanted this year. She did come over late that night since she was in town for her sister anyway, but promptly fell asleep.
With the whining out of the way, we'll move on to a more positive update. Last time 'round I mentioned the present I had made for my lady for her birthday. Well, she was incredibly happy with it, and found a lot of new music she really likes. A rousing success, so I was happy about that at least.
Last night I went to see Buckethead for the second time this year. The second time in the last six months, actually. Once again, the show was totally amazing. This time it was cool because That 1 Guy (that really is his name), who was the opening act, played bass for Buckethead. It was really great, but unfortunately it meant that his solo set was cut short since he had to play and keep up the rest of the night. The show started at 8:00, and went until around midnight with only a very brief intermission in between. There was some new stuff added to the stage show (like two guys in chicken suits that just came out and stood there...for a very long time), and even a bunch of new songs. Buckethead managed to put together a whole new album's worth of stuff since the last time I saw him. The new material is really amazing too. In fact, it's one of my top three favorites of his records (out of 20+).
Actually, this year is shaping up to be a great year for shows. I've now seen Buckethead twice, Junior Brown (another incredible show), The Hunger Mountain Boys, and coming up are The Reverend Horton Heat, The Melvins, and Los Straitjackets!
So, in usual entry fashion, I'll close with some photos. These are some shots I did with a model back in April. I just got around to cleaning some of them up last week, so I thought I'd share. Especially since I'm pretty broke and haven't been shooting anything new.
Take care everyone! I hope you're all well!
