So okay, update. Aside from a series of unfortunate events, there's really not a lot to report. I spent the fourth of July with my girlfriend and her folks. It was pretty nice, a little uncomfortable though. On the plus side, her mom made some really amazing barbecue pork ribs. I also got some pictures...
A beautiful flower...
A more beautiful flower...
Yes, that's my lady, Sarah.
Here she is again at the lake...
A photo of her in the early morning light...
Finally a picture of a weirdo flower taken with my new macro lens...
Speaking of pictures and lenses, this brings us to the unfortunate events. First of all, it has come to my attention that my camera is on its last legs. The photos I'm getting out of it lately are not at all what they used to be, and are far below my needs and expectations. The ones I've posted have been doctored up quite a bit in Photoshop, and they still aren't what I'd like. So that means a new camera, and another couple of hundred dollars down the drain.
Then, in a moment of nothing less than sheer stupidity, I managed to wash my cell phone, my ONLY phone the other day. Yes, I'm an idiot. I was in a hurry to get my laundry done, and took off the pants I was wearing and threw them in, not realizing my phone was still in there. So after THREE HOURS in the Verizon store, I finally got them to give me a new phone at the discount price, despite the litany of mistakes they've made with my account.
Still, it was a $130 mistake. All of this after the $1000 worth of mantainence I just put into my car a couple of weeks ago.
The only positive spin to all of this is that I did manage to sell another painting, and I picked up a freelance design job that will get me a couple of hundred bucks. So while not sinking me as bad as it would have otherwise, all of this stuff really isn't getting me anywhere. I'm hoping after this that I'll be able to go back to saving again, although at a diminished rate as my roommate is moving, and I'll be paying for the whole place myself. At least I'll have the whole place to myself though. Ah, cleanliness...finally!
I hope all of you are well. Take care everybody! Later.
