The long road to my first gallery show is finally coming to an and. My opening was last night, and I have to tell you guys it went so much better than I could have ever expected. I was amazed at how many people showed up. I didn't even realize I knew that many people! It was really fantastic thought to be able to share it with my friends, and to show them what my work is really supposed to look like. A lot of people just didn't quite realize what it is that I do, and I think it was cool for them to be able to see it.
So not only did a lot of people show (it was quite literally packed in there for an hour or so), I actually sold three pieces!!! Two to people I had never met before, so that was very nice, and really sort of validating. The show runs for another three weeks, so I hope more people will get to see it, and maybe even buy something.
So here are some pics from the show. I didn't take most of these. I was really overwhelmed by the amount of people that came, and was getting pulled in too many directions to get many shots. My boss took a lot for me though, so that was cool. Here we go:
So here's the front of the gallery where my show was at. Special thanks to Sage for giving me a show at all. I think she was pleasantly surprised at its success.
Here are Twinkie and Hydra. Thank you ladies, you were both very popular.
Here's one side of the gallery. The part I was showing in was a big U shape. The gent in the front with his mouth slighly agape is a friend and former co-worker of mine, Dave, who actually purchased one of my pieces.
This is the other side of the U. These are all the images with text on them, and below them is my artist's statement.
Life is about the little things. This statement sounds obvious to anyone who's ever taken a moment to think about the world around them. My art is very much tied to this fact. The slight curve at the corner of a woman's mouth that determines whether she's happy, or merely appeased. The look in her eye that makes you curious what thoughts might languish or lurk behind it. The subthle, beautifu, luminous undulations that contour the nape of the neck and the slope of the hip. These are the things I want to portray. I hope that if I can successfully freeze these moments, these lines, these brilliant variations, that I will be able to help others to see the importance of the everyday.
(My statement was written with the encouragement of someone very special.)
Onward, here is me with my centerpiece of Adaline. Despite the fact that everyone loved the piece, no one could afford it. I printed it on canvas, and actually stretched it like an actual painting. I have to say, it's pretty cool.
Here are some friends, and some guy I don't know. You can see Kiska and Hydra again in the background.
I took a half day yesterday to prepare my locally famous chili for the show. That's right, people come for the art, but they stay for the chili. Behold...
And finally, we have a picture of my good friend Bill on purse duty. Totally unrelated to the art, I just thought this picture was too funny. Oh, and this one I actually did shoot.
Oh yeah! I forgot. I also this week had my first photo shoot with a nude model. I was finally able to find one locally, and she was really great. She was a lot more comfortable with it than I was at first. It's a weird thing to be in that situation, to be so scrutinizing someone while they're right in front of you. It went really well though, and I think I got some really good shot to use for my work. Keep an eye out for the new stuff in the coming weeks.
Thanks everyone for bearing with this exceptionally long entry. The last few weeks have been some of the most amazing of my life. Things are finally starting to come together for me, and it feels really good. Thanks to all of you for your support, and to the girls who allowed me to draw them, thank you so much. You were all very well recieved. Take care all. Bye!

It's been a while since I've said anything to anyone on here. I think my shitty attitude is best left in real life..So I've avoided my hermit escape. AKA SG.
I've got a lot of stuff on the go, I'm actually doodling and sketching and I stopped by a new shop here, buddy said he'd pay well over 400 bucks for a nice pile of flash. Which I could put together right now if I actually wanted to spend that much time using a scanner...
Blasted technology.
Anyway, I just wanted to write something. Hope you're doing well! Working on some new stuff and whatnot huh? ahhhggg, well, off to figure out what to do for money. Guh.
