In March of this year (2022) I took my first international trip, a cruise to Italy. On the way the ship stopped in the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal and in a french city, on the side of Monaco, and yes everyone ended up going to Monaco hahah. My birthday is March 22nd, and in March 22ad this year, was the first time I set foot on foreign soil. We made the first disembarkation of the cruise in Las Palmas, a Spanish island. I have to say that I found everything that belongs to Spain more beautiful and organized than the Portuguese soil (I make the comparison because Brazil was colonized by Portugal, (I am Brazilian) and the rest of Latin America was colonized by Spain). In all the stops that the cruise made, I tried to go to as many tourist places as possible. I have been to many cathedrals, ruins, castles, and museums.
The cruise lasted 21 days, my plans were to disembark in Italy, stay +- 20 more days there, then go to Switzerland and stay 10 more days and after that return to Brazil. In Italy I was in Genoa, Florence, Rome and Milan. I've never been to so many museums in my life in such a short period of time like those days I was in Italy haha. I saw so much art that I got to the point where I didn't want to anymore. But the main reason I wanted to visit Italy was exactly the museums, so I didn't complain.
Italy is a very old country, and in that time a lot of interesting things were accumulated there. I was impressed with how there was art everywhere there, every street I passed had some artistic detail, even if it was something minimal, but it did.
And about Switzerland? Ahh Switzerland is breathtaking, if there's a place that worked in the world, that place is there. I've been to Lausanne, Interlaken, Thun, Zermatt and Zurich. all the places were perfect, i just didn't like Zurich that much, but maybe i just got it in the wrong places, or i just didn't have enough time.
I think having done the whole trip alone limited my experience a lot... The nightlife in all these places was something I couldn't have, it's hard to go to a new place alone without knowing the local language, not everyone speaks English, I knew there could be many places I wouldn't be welcome because I'm a foreigner, and it could also be dangerous not knowing where I was going...
This is just a summary of the trip, I could spend hours talking about each city and what I did in each one
Remember that in my plans the trip would end up in Switzerland? Well... I ended up missing a connecting flight that happened in Paris, but I'll talk about it in my next blog haha.
