I can't decide to go to Pacific Friction, WALP or anywhere. I guess I will stay the fuck home. I was going to go to WALP and stay with Midori and then the airfare crept - overnight. Amsterdam in the fall is so beautiful too. I really can't afford to go - but I can't afford not to - it is so cheap.
I was going to Pacific Friction, but I have a conference 2 weeks later in Portland for the American Collegiate Schools of Planning - except I didn't register in time because ACSP didn't send the information out and the fee went way up. I may write to them and plead starving student status. I need to have my PhD Committee chair write a letter to work still to have them pay my wages so I don't have to take leave - that is if I am even working in October! Eeps. Besides, I need to get my teeth cleaned and I still haven't found a dentist out here that uses a proxy jet method to clean - dark ages pumice - ewe. Primitive.
Think I can't decide maybe it's due to indecision at work. I have to apply for another job in a different department I am interested in over the weekend. And maybe leave the chihuahua on meth style boss who made me cry last week. I love the other people I work with in the states. Maybe I could do a rotation in California if we ever get a budget. This is the email we all got on Wednesday:
Under the terms of the [edit "govt act"] [edit "fed agency"] will continue operations through September 30. Therefore, all [edit "fed agency"] employees should continue to report for work consistent with their approved duty schedules. However, there will be restrictions on the obligation of program and project funds after September 24. Further details on these restrictions will be issued to all Headquarters and field offices shortly.
For us to continue operations in the new fiscal year starting October 1, the Congress must pass and the President sign a continuing resolution that includes authority to expend from the [edit "fed"] Trust Fund after September 30. An update on actions related to this matter will be provided to all employees next week or when action has been taken by the Congress.
How's that for perceived government job security?? This has been going on for two years! Don't believe anything they tell you about government work!
