Well... Last week was not so good. Hopefully this week will be better, but based on my mail from the end of the week it won't be. Bad things are heading my way and hopefully I can dodge the bigger bullets. About all I'll be saying about that, but I will likely be moving soon.
Friday night I got stood up by the red head again.
Then I got stupid drunk.
I have no idea what time I got home from the bar, but I slept till 1:30pm Saturday. Did not a damn thing till I packed the drums into the car and headed out to the harbor behind Jack's in St Clair Shores at around 4pm. I was crashing a friends gig out on the harbor for the Vanician Festival. They had not idea where they were setting up and didn't show up till 5:30pm. Not a big deal since it's one big party I just hung out at various boats till they got there.
We played from about 7ish (took a long time getting set up and the sound working) till the rain hit around 10:30 with a few breaks to let other people play and grab food. Toward the end of the fireworks the rain started. We trapped over everything, but it didn't let up so the night ended pretty early. Normally we would have played till one or two in the morning and partied till dawn.
Instead we has a hell of a time packing up trying not to ruin expensive sound gear and instrument. EEKK.:eek
. .What a mess... Was a fun night up to that point. My hands still hurt from playing the congas and bongos.. We were rocking the place too.. Had a good crowd building.
Sunday, I did nothing. I was pretty zoned from the bad news I got in the mail and the crappy weekend so nothing got done.
I decided to hit the bar for a few last minute pints of Guinness so I'd sleep better.
That turned into a lot more than I wanted. Ran into this guy from Luxembourg, George, who insisted on buying me a few beers while we chatted at the bar.
We had a few girls stop and chat with us.
Then he wandered off to accost some 21 year olds.
One had just turned 21 at midnight as I found out later.
Had to run interference for the girls because he had gotten rude drunk and was buying shots.
They'll be back today for the official birthday party.
Hopefully George won't. He made such an ass of himself trying to score.
They weren't too interested in a drunk 44 year old. After they left he turned his attention to some Irish tourists. He was trying to in list my help in picking one of them up. He didn't get it that they were with the guys that were standing there. I helped run interference for them too then ditched George on the way out the door. What a crazy ass night.
Now it's time to get showered off for work. I'll be back to the bar for open mic. This time I think I'll bring some drums. One of the 21 y/o girls wanted to hear me play. Hopefully she'll leave her boy friend home again.
