The waiting is the hardest part!
Boy how true that rings right now. Three contracts outstanding and not a word on from anyone. No despair yet. I've been here countless times. There's no sense in letting it get to me. It will either happen or not.
I got a call yesterday for some really low paying web maintenance work. 20 hours a week, but the guy isn't worried about me leaving on a moments notice. So far it's been all mind numbing busy work, but that's where his priorities are. I can't believe I will actually punch a time clock for web work. It seems obscene after 16 years in IT while just reporting my hours as I saw them. At least I can put gas in the car, eat, and maybe pay a bill or two.
So. I'm sitting in a coffee house listening to an unusually bad open mic, flirting with the lesbians, and catching up on journals. I didn't know she as a lesbian when I started flirting. She was writing in her journal. Pen to paper. Imagine! Frequent exchanged glances, smiles, and more interesting facial expressions. She even did a jubilant dance for me. Oddly, that was after jumping her girlfriend when she finally showed up. Out the back door they went shortly after. Never got her name or exchanged a spoken word.
That's Ferndale for you! And yes, I did mean the plural.
The music has improved a little, but all of the lesbians have paired off as have more important things to attend too. Not an unescorted straight girl in sight (and they are in short supply). I'm starting to feel the effects of watching the Energy Bill conference on CSPAN2 till 3am. Funny, just as the AC in this place starts to catch up with the day's heat I start to feel groggy. Open mic will close up shortly. I'll be heading home and I bet I will wake up shortly after crawling into bed. From reading some journals on SG I know that I'm not the only one who forgets to sleep at night.
I was reading Aeryn's latest journal and it struck a little close to home. It's worth a read. Tells a lot about how life too often unfolds for so many. The conclusion might be different for each of us, but there is an odd theme that seems to echo across society.
It's time to wrap this up. I've been typing this for over an hour along with reading and typing in other journals. The host is back on stage doing an instrumental. He has a few Metro Music Awards for his playing. Definitely worth kicking back and just listening. I've only done one song on one of his albums. Hopefully we'll actually get our Celtic project in gear this year. That is, if I'm still in town.
See a lot of you Saturday. My CD's are all done and waiting. I have 6 extra for those who didn't RSVP.
I'm done just typing to type...
P.S. The cute lesbian and her girlfriends wandered back in. And she's still flirting.

I think my friend just has extremely bad taste, she seems to attract them, prob why she's friends with me!!! (I haven't stalked anyone yet, just to let you know)
I think nipple piercings look cute, i've never had to taste one tho! I'm a bit worried because even my ear piercings went gross & manky, and my belly buttons been a bit manky, I really don't fancy having manky nipples!
