oooh. I love the start of the month, especially as the lovely Adahlia is Miss May on my SkinDeep calendar. & I love Phinn miniset
but it was a bit of a may day when I found out some fraudster had been trying to purchase things on my boyfriends card. luckily, the 1000 item from an electronics company was rejected - but it looks as though one purchase went through. the gits have booked a flight with easyjet & I am hoping that no more purchases have been accepted (especially a hotel booking or something like that). my boyfriend's pretty pissed off & I feel so helpless about it. I keep wondering what else they've tried to do with our money. I can imagine a skanky couple getting on a plane laughing at their achievement - it makes me feel so sick.
I had a mini adventure on Monday. I went to see the office I'll be moving into in July with my supervisor. I got a tour of the building & watched TV in the recreation room for a while. it was good to get out of my office, but my supervisor thought it was a waste of time.
my team are such workaholics, it's frightening. they are like Haniwasalary Man. brrr. it sends shivers down my spine. I get so down on some days 'cause when everyone else is doing two hours overtime you feel a bit guilty being the last to arrive & first to leave everyday. I refrain from thinking too badly of them - maybe they need the money or maybe they have a family to support, but I cannot help but feel a mild dislike for the certain few who frown on my lack of commitment.
there is one guy who had to be persuaded to leave his desk when the fire alarm went off! that is messed up! I couldn't comprehend his mentality especially when he stood outside in the car park saying how he wanted to get back inside. it was the most gorgeous day of the year. weirdo.
but all-in-all, they are a good bunch. & I enjoy their company when they are not saying if you need help, please can you go to someone else?. bless. I hope their money makes them happy 'cause the job is so thankless.
I've noticed a lot of people who work just as hard as my team around the company. sometimes when I do late training & get the 19:00 bus home I still see people working away in their offices, & the sad thing is I recognise them from the 8:00 bus I get every morning. that's ten hours a day (if they take their lunch hour, which I doubt they do).
maybe it's the nature of the place I work at, I mean, investment banking isn't an area you want to get in for the fun of it. & I suppose it's a good place to work if you live by yourself, you get so absorbed that you can forget your lonliness.
they must think I'm nuts too, especially when 17:00 comes & I switch off my computer & run to the bus stop. I bet their eyes flick to the window for a fraction of a second & wonder why is that lady running with a smile on her face? I'm going home, it's where I belong.
I helped my Mum moved into her flat last weekend... now I write about it, I guess I've been more busy recently than I thought I had.
wee - I bought a teal humming bird necklace in a cheap teenage fashion shop near me. it's so cheap it makes my neck itch. but I love birds & teal. what a great buy for 1.
