My thoughts go out to all of the loved ones of the people who lost their lives on 09-11-01. The passengers and crewmembers on the planes, all of the people in the buildings, all of the emergency response personnel, all of them deserve to be remembered. Most Americans (not just U.S. citizens) remember where they were when they first heard about the attack. I was sitting in my living room watching the news with my dad. We were watching the news when it switched over to the urgent reports that the first tower had been hit. We watched the live feed as the second plane hit and the first tower was still coming down. I stayed home from school and watched news reports with my family the rest of the day. I was still pretty young at the time but I'll always remember that day.
I luckily did not have any family or loved ones who were killed on that day. But with my family's careers, it still hit close to home. My mother was a paramedic at the time and my father was a police officer at the time so if an event like that had taken place closer to home, they would have been part of the people who would have to respond.
It always frustrates me when people say that they hate the war in the middle east and they have never supported it. When that attack on our nation happened, almost every person in our country was supportive of it. Many people blame former President Bush for the war, but it wasn't only his decision. He did what almost any other leader would have done in the same position. And he wasn't the only one who wanted to do it, he just happened to be in charge at the time. Nobody knows what they would do until they are put in that situation.
