Did you read this one: Ann Wright, who served 29 years in the US Army as a light colonel,
yet resigned four years ago because of the black hole called Iraq, reports that within
the President's bill with no withdrawl timetable which passed the Senate a week
or so ago there is also language that brought him one step closer to what
some say has been his real goal in Iraq all along: the privatization of Iraq's
oil. As it now stands, thanks to this bill, Congress will now withholld reconstuction
funds intended for Iraq unless the Iraqi Parliament passes the legislation to
privatize her oil industry. It's the old TR bully stick approach to legislation.
This is the basic "victory" Bush has always wanted the most.. Looks like he
will have it very soon now. We will now undoubtedly build a permanent base there
to oversee the investment for Halliburton, and the other companies who will do the buying,
through the offices of the VIce President.
And once again my hero, and he is, Joe Biden, boneheadedly signed this bill.
Hillary, Barack, and Chris Dodds didn't; but Joe didn't see this tag to the bill:
the privatization of the oil, which clearly said he shouldn't. TRUTHOUT caught
this. I don't know anyone else reporting the story from this perspective. And it
could be the most important moment in this war, to date? Bob Callahan
