On the advice of a few SGers i started watching Twin Peaks... now i never watched this first time round (i would have been 8-9 too young) and since then the name always reminded me of Peak Practice and thus i thought same of this show.. until a few years ago i caught a "top 100 tv show" thing on TV and it mentioned how amazing it was...
Any how a few episodes in and its quite enjoyable... although the main thing i have noticed is as its set in 1990-91 (when it was made) how BAD the haircuts were back then (hate short hair on women) and more importantly how it reminds me of a life before mobile phones and technology got in the way.
Back then people saw each other and the only entertainment was each others company, we had 4 TV channels and so TV was limited and so every one saw the same programmes and the next day it was the topic of conversation. but besides that when you met some one, you had their mostly full attention, you didnt have the distractions of modern day life with social networking and such. How often now do you meet a friend and at no point do they pull out a mobile phone to text or check something.. personally i find it quite rude when people do it, and i only ever do it when am "popping to the toilet" or such
I do miss those times a bit, i know we always look back with rose tinted lenses but it would be nice to go out to dinner with people and know the only person they are talking to are the people around them.
