History is a form of accounting.
Storytelling, yes.
But also of taking stock (a stock-take…I make it sound so fun)…taking things into account.
Ah, there we are.
You can be damn sure that those who run Suicide Girls NOTICE when members cancel their accounts.
The natural question would be, “Was this month really that bad”?
Quality-control.
Trends.
If you see a bunch of members voting with their feet and wallets (heading for the exits), a good businessperson will want to know why.
Why?
Well, December 2010 was a month that would have made me seriously-think about canceling my membership.
When members find relatively-little that they fancy, they walk.
Relative to what?
Relative to the price they are paying.
Are they getting their “money’s-worth”?
One might even be tempted to be dramatic.
Did SG nosedive a bit in December 2010?
Perhaps.
In relation to the months which preceded it, perhaps.
Obviously, the site didn’t tank due to one wonky month.
It’s been churning out pin-up photography for the past 14 years (in addition to its first nine years).
Perhaps my math is off by a bit there.
But of one thing I am certain: there were quantitatively LESS sets in December 2010.
That’s not always a bad thing.
The real problem is that the quality of these few sets was generally shite (my opinion).
Let me quantify it a bit:
-there were approximately 13 fewer sets on SG in December 2010 than there had been in November 2010 (a very strong month in terms of quality)
-there had been approximately 20 fewer sets on SG in November 2010 than there had been in October 2010 (meaning December 2010 had about 33 fewer sets [!] than October 2010 had)
Generally-speaking, there were far more sets per month in 2009 than there were in 2010.
I’m not gonna take this surface-level analysis any further than that at this time, but it gives some context.
The good news is that January 2011 was a recovery of sorts (at least in terms of quantity [I’ll leave you guessing about the quality]).
You might be thinking, “Is there a pattern to the quantitative fluctuation from month to month—perhaps depending on the seasons?”
I’m glad you asked!
It just so happens that my notes for December 2009 are missing.
I would need to go back and gather more data.
But if we judge November and January to be “the same season” as December, then I can give you two comparisons.
Nov. 2010: approximately 98 sets
Nov. 2011: approximately 61 sets
Jan. 2010: approximately 81 sets
Jan. 2011: approximately 65 sets
At quick glance (like I said), there were far more sets on SG in 2009 than in 2010.
Why?
Were models not being paid enough?
Were tips down?
Had the early “coolness” of the site plateaued in the public psyche?
If you’re a business nerd (like me), you might find this kind of stuff fascinating.
If you’re a wanker (also me), you are probably gangin’ to get to the hot links.
So, without further ado, I give you the best of December 2010.
The first set to really make contact was a great one by @blackberry entitled Sushi Time .
Speaking of hot links (click dat), this one was no dirty wiener served with brown rice and seaweed.
Oh no!
These were some high-grade, ichiban knockers.
Unfortunately, there aren’t very many good full-frontal pics—not many close-ups.
It’s one of those sets where it looks like the model is trying a bit to hide their body.
[Get naked, or don’t.]
As such, I can only call this set great (and not perfect).
As such, I don’t feel compelled to tip it.
Maybe Blackberry’s next set will empty my wallet.
I won’t be surprised one bit if it does.
Tons of talent she has!!
Continuing the greatness was @hannalisa in the most artful set of the month: Reminder .
This one POPS!!
SUPERB photography by @dwam .
The “money shot” (to me) is frame 20.
Wow.
THAT is art.
The greatness kept rolling with @shivashanti in her debut Hopeful set 4x4=square .
This one is great on account of her tinfoil dress and the CRISP, high-contrast photography.
Sadly, no photographer is credited (not uncommon for Hopeful sets in those days).
Check out Shivashanti’s quite-genius work!!
Another great set was @gabriella in her SG debut The Mask .
This babe is like Bardot.
Tits and ass.
She has it all!!
Great set.
Things cooled off a bit with @harrleigh in what appears to be her last Hopeful set Finally time for me. .
This gal had some pretty nice titties!
Good work.
And then we get to the one (sadly) perfect set of the month.
It’s @cheri in Reading Corner .
I’m pretty sure I tipped this set, but I might have been neck-deep in other SG minutiæ and inadvertently failed to reward this lady for her OUTSTANDING set.
For the one time this month, we see a big, luscious rack.
We can actually see it.
This was her second SG set and she had a very fine career after this.
PERFECT SET!!!
Then we stepped down a couple of times.
First is a great set by @arq —her only SG set ever—OMG .
This symphony of color features rosy areolæ and a vibrant powder-blue background.
Great art direction and photography!!
A very talented model.
It’s a shame she got tired of the site after merely one outing.
Also good was @diessel in her SG debut Before the Days Gone [sic].
Here’s a set by a sensuous, fit gal.
Good stuff!
Clocking in for greatness was @alkaline in Unthought .
This gal was rockin’ some nice breasts and a pretty smokin’ butt as well!!
Great set.
From this point on, it was a bit dire.
Let’s hit the highlights.
Kudos to @catrina for a job well-done with Locker Room .
There’s a great vagina close-up in shot 11.
That’s a nice snap there (by an anonymous photographer)!
Also worth mentioning is @discordia in Nothing’s Sacred .
I love the black lingerie and the blue hair!
Likewise notable was @bob in Anything Goes .
Cole Porter would be proud!
And I always dig @manko .
So check out her set Goldfinger .
Superb photography by @albertine !
My favorite is the final shot.
I love the high contrast of the black cat and the pale skin.
Ok, two more.
First is a great one by @nemesis called Neue Ordnung .
I’m guessing this multi is with the photographer: @temper .
At any rate, it’s quite a great set (and I am NOT a fan of multis [at all]).
Great mysterious colors here.
Teal, ocean-blue…blacks.
Shadows.
My favorite pic in this TRULY PASSIONATE collab is #14.
A gloved-fingertip being bit or sucked.
Kinky!!
Last, but not least, we must recognize the good work of @yulia in All Tomorrows Parties .
Here’s a truly-FIT, beautiful gal in a well-chosen handful of complementary colors.
There’s always next month…
