In reviewing the sets in the SG archives, there is a desire to FLY through the photo spreads as fast as possible—to get to the PRESENT time.
But when one encounters many, many quality sets which were released in a small window of time, it is only fair to slow the pace a bit and give this wonderful work the attention it deserves.
So it is with May and June of 2004.
Summer was NOT a bummer that year.
The previous summer seemed a bit of a lull at SG, but this one was positively scorching
Things got started right with @aiki dropping Entomology on May 10th.
This is another explosive set from a model who consistently turned in stellar work.
But hot on her heels was superstar @mary with Swank .
This is a truly special set. Hugh Hefner missed big-time when he failed to employ this model. What a legend Mary is!
But the best set of these two months was a scrappy attempt to unseat boob-queens like Mary and Aiki—and that (successful) attempt was White Light by @kate .
This set has all the energy that SG subscribers love about Hopefuls.
This set sets out to hang the moon—to smash the ikons—and it does just that.
Kate announces herself as a major, major model in this artful juggernaut.
The glitter on the nipples is a nice detail, but the whole set just works so well as ART.
And God damn if it’s not hot as fuck!
Well, if that’s the best set of these two months, then why keep reading?
Because variety is the spice of life.
And the next set is VERY special.
In terms of modeling talent, @amelia is every bit as significant and RARE as Kate…and Giggle shows that nicely.
These two ladies—Amelia and Kate—are ones to watch in the coming chapters.
Indeed, new talent was coming to Suicide Girls.
Nothing would come easy for the stars and more senior models.
Then again, it is good to have a laugh.
And if you can laugh during sex (as Henry Miller said), that may be the best of all.
I really admire @alexis (whom we last saw with a Pee-wee Herman doll in her crotch) for GOING FOR IT in her sets.
The ideas she tries are audacious and hilarious.
And she’s hot as fuck.
My friends (particularly GWAR lovers and Troma aficionados), you absolutely must see her set Toilet Monster .
That’s right, Poop Man invades the shoot and takes this set into a niche not heretofore seen on SG.
All I gotta say is, if a model can still look sexy while cavorting with a hulking bogeyman made of shit, then she is certifiably-hot.
And Alexis pulls it off.
This set is truly one for the ages.
Back to more traditional erotica, @jenna turned in the crisp images and high-contrast genius of Nurse Jenna .
Doing a nurse spread is difficult because the “hot nurse” trope is hard to wield in an original way, but Jenna has no problem with it.
And again, here we are seeing ANOTHER significant model to watch for in future chapters.
Summer of 2004 at SG truly did not disappoint!
I can’t let a chapter go by without giving kudos to a photographer, and more often than not (in these early years) that photographer is @missy .
Missy was really perfecting HER high-contrast shoots and Fan starring @soraya is a perfect example.
The images pop off the screen.
Black backgrounds.
Luminous skin.
Halos of light here and there.
But as any director or photographer will tell you, there is really no substitute for a talented subject.
And Soraya looks AMAZING here.
You gotta check this out.
What a babe!
Really for some MoMA-worthy art?
Good.
Me too.
And Suicide Girls does that in a way that Playboy, Penthouse, and Hustler could never hope to touch.
I can’t underscore enough how significant a set Soil is by @tina .
Seriously.
An artist like Andy Goldsworthy would have SHIT himself to make something as good as this set.
But he didn’t make it.
Tina made it.
And God damn is it good!!
If this set were a movie, it might be a psychological-thriller.
