After four months at the end of 2001, SG rolled into its second calendar year: 2002.
The site hit a groove.
There was consistency.
Familiar faces.
And a regular pace of new models.
But things really started heating up in the summer. That’s when @al , the busty queen of 2002, debuted.
She had three excellent sets in 2002, but the first was Bathtub —a set that makes you say, “Whoa! What am I looking at here?!? Is this real???”—a very futuristic episode.
About a month later, @elara dropped the artful Swing .
Her radiant skin and superb photography combine to give us a rather masterful work of art.
Dig the frame with her looking through a link of chain.
Divine!
Unfortunately, no photographer is credited with taking this set.
One of 2002’s best models was @nic . Her sets are always so creative and unusual.
But this one uses an old trope of erotica: the Nurse .
And yet it is not at all trite or hackneyed. In Nic’s talented hands, the subject is HOT!!! I really admire how she pushed the creative envelope in her shoots, but this installment is classic lust. Well-played!
One thing I love about the early SG sets is seeing a style of photography that one doesn’t encounter much anymore.
Perhaps no set of 2002 embodies this more than Checkers by @robin . Check out that first shot! If Keith Richards were a hot babe, he would probably want his SG set to look like this.
Once again, unfortunately, there is no photographer credited. But Robin looks like a STAR here. Seriously. This looks like a Smashing Pumpkins photo shoot or something. I just don’t see photography quite like this anymore. Such a cool style!
But soon the buxom awe of @al was back to set us all at attention in the set Closet .
We could tell by this point that she was very real and that she meant BUSINESS!
She is to me (to reiterate) the most consistent STAR of SG in 2002. Much like @mary was for 2001. Models who were able to dominate an entire year with a handful of unforgettable sets.
All that being said, I think perhaps the greatest beauty of 2002 was @seraphim —particularly in her set Shy . This is the kind of beauty that Monet would have kissed the canvas for.
As far as modeling goes, I think this was the standout set of 2002.
But it is so hard to get @al out of your mind (once you have seen her).
The best breasts of 2002 were back again for Future .
Kudos to @missy for capturing this phenomenal model here in all her glory.
Incidentally, history should note 10/24/2002 as a red-letter date in the annals of SG firsts.
If I’m not mistaken, it was the first time an SG model had the audacity to pour a creamy beverage between her tits during a photo shoot.
For this now-tried-and-true move, we may all owe a round of applause to @katie and her set Devil . Thank you, Katie, for enriching our lives and imaginations. May the SG gods and goddesses look kindly upon you.
Speaking of goddesses, don’t forget @seraphim ‘s other fantastic set of 2002: Heels .
She was certainly one of the two most important models of that year (to me).
But, alas, not all is beauty—not all is in the hands of the model.
We really must congratulate photographic ingenuity where we see it.
And that brings me to what I believe was the most important set of 2002: Loo by @bug .
Here is a set that is COOL (in every sense of the word).
The color-timing—the hipness…
Here, model and photography meet for something truly remarkable.
It’s hard to tell exactly who photographed this set, but I think we owe a hearty thanks to @mitten for this one.
Such a cinematic masterwork!
Finally, near the end of the year, another voluptuous talent emerged.
She almost stole the show (and recalibrated the entire year) with two magnificent sets.
The most remarkable of the two is the aptly-named Luscious and its muse @linz .
All these years on, these ladies look as great as ever.
And it is amazing to see the variety of styles which really made Suicide Girls what it is today.
