Time to heal....
For the first time I actually felt a loss that I have never felt in any other election. I am almost numb with disbelief. I can only pray that the majority of people that voted for Obama did NOT vote because of skin color, any more than a woman would vote for the McCain ticket just because it had a woman on the ticket,. How utterly shallow that would be.....what a discredit to your vote.....
BUT.....here's the hard part....I will respect the decision of the majority of the people that voted in this election, fully realizing that there are close to 50 million other people who agree with my decision of who was best prepared to run this country, and move on. Not because I believe you are right in electing Obama for president, but because I love my country enough to put it aside and move on. Ohh, I have no doubt, that I will be hearing a whole lot of let's move forward on the Obama band wagon, and that it will take some getting use to, as I don't agree with a lot of his liberal views. I still know what I feel is right and wrong and Obama cant change that.I whole heartedly agree that Obama is one hell of a speaker, charasmatic, ...and even better...how can you NOT like him because he says "yes" to everything! Well, with the exception of keeping our troops overseas, but then again, the good thing about that is if we set a deadline, hopefully those that do seek to harm our troops will just back off till that deadline gets here and then just let us gracefully retreat, without harming anymore of our brave men and women serving in our armed forces. (Good luck with your own democracy by the way...but that's really not our problem either..... )
Irregardless of who you or I voted for, leaving our country divided, would be a disservice to ourselves, our children, our community. The decision has been made........I have to repeat that age old adage to myself "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country"..That's where my patriotism comes in, it's not about McCain or Obama, it's about MY country,MY childrens and grandchildrens country. I do not think that statement is just for the democrats or republicans, but our country as a whole. Our nation is in a slump right now as we all can agree on, cant we all do just a "little" more to make it a GREAT nation once again?!
I'm not asking anyone to "like" the outcome of the election, I'm reminding you, like myself, that in 4 years that we will again have a voice in the election of the President of the United States of America, and if we dont like how its being done, we need to work harder to change it.
I'm so proud of our youth this year!! They did an awesome job of getting out to vote and making their voices heard as well.
My applause to John McCain for his gracious concession speech, and not allowing the boos for Obama, but doing his utmost in a difficult time in trying to unite the people, and for his years of service to this nation.
The battle is over and it's time to move on, time to heal......God bless the USA!
